Staff Writers/Reporters—publish at least two to three pieces per quarter (depending on the scope), be they interviews or commentary on campus, local, national or international politics
Columnists—write regular columns surrounding a certain topic or theme
Editors—work with writers to develop their pieces from start to finish, providing feedback on pitches/ideas and drafts and facilitating the revision process
Copy Editors—review nearly finalized pieces to improve accuracy, readability, and grammatical correctness
Newsletter Writer—compiles our weekly Monday Memo email newsletter, which is read by over 3,000 people each week
Graphic Designers—assist Magazine Director with graphics, layout, and illustrations for the quarterly print magazine
Photo/Video Editor—manages our team of photographers/videographers and edits photos and photo stories
Photographers/Videographers—accompany reporters and designers to take photos/videos for articles and the print magazine
Podcast Co-Host—researches/discusses current events and interviews political guests on a bi-weekly podcast
Podcast Technical Staff—assist co-hosts in audio recording, editing, and producing the bi-weekly podcast
Interactive Article Designers—explore the possibility of creating interactive articles on our website, especially for longer-form investigative pieces (some programming background preferred)
Web Director—designs and maintains our WordPress website, stanfordpolitics.org, ensuring that all new articles are properly posted and pages are up to date
Marketing Director—manages our social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram), posting regularly to advertise new articles and the print magazine
Please note that the minimum time commitment for all staff members of Stanford Politics is at least a few hours per week, but many staff members go above and beyond that.
